Welcome to Roots to Return...
Roots to Return has been established to provide practical support to those affected by the 'Deport Now, Appeal Later' policy. We believe this policy is deliberately difficult and aim to ensure individuals can overcome identified barriers of the policy to access their appeal rights. We aim to monitor the use and shortcomings of the process through enabling access.
We believe the strongest way to support families that are seperated due to immigration policy is to develop support networks of indiviuals with lived experience and provide the tools needed to maintain communication while legal challenges continue. We also believe youth should be informed of the policy and how it could affect them as they approach 18 years old.
Roots to Return is organised and run by members who have direct experience of the UK immigration system, in particular the 'Deport Now, Appeal Later' regime. We are always looking for more individuals with this valuable experience to share their stories, ideas and inform our practice. We also aim to employ individuals with such personal experience.
We believe in the importance of speaking out on how immgration policies and practices affect individuals and their families. Through breaking the silence we believe understanding and compassion will follow from increased public awareness. We support campaigns and are developing workshops that will build understanding among those most affected.
